2-2-5-5 custody schedule
A 2-2-5-5 custody schedule is a 50/50 schedule where each parent keeps the same two weeknights every week and the weekends take turns. Parent A always has Monday and Tuesday, Parent B always has Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday to Sunday alternates. That makes blocks of two, two, five and five nights.

How it works
- Week one: Monday and Tuesday with Parent A, Wednesday and Thursday with Parent B, Friday to Sunday with Parent A.
- Week two: Monday and Tuesday with Parent A, then Wednesday to Sunday with Parent B.
- Then the two weeks repeat. The kids change homes four times in every two weeks.
7 of 14 nights with each parent4 changes every two weeks
Common variations
- 5-2-2-5
- The same schedule, counted from a five-night block.
- 2-5-5-2
- Another name for the same rotation, counted from a different day.
Things families weigh
- Each parent has the same weeknights every week, so school activities and work shifts are easier to plan.
- There are four changes every two weeks (2-2-3 has six), but the kids can be away from a parent for five nights in a row.
